Subjects studied in Grade Ten in Afghanistan Schools
1. Geography:
Geography teaches the students the physical and human made features of Afghanistan as well as of the world. Students learn about maps, continents, climate, and resources, in addition to allow them to discover on how geographical factors shape the people’s way of living.
2. Islamic Studies:
Islamic Studies enable students to gain further insight into Islamic religion’s principles, practices and virtues. The subjects include seerah, which is the life and mission of the Holy Prophet (PBUH),Ilm-ul-Fiqh which relates to Islamic laws and Orientalism, which offers every student the opportunity to practice these principles in his day-to-day life.
3. Math:
The topics covered in the Grade 8 mathematics include: Advanced algebras; geometry; Simple trigonometry. Skills developed include problem solving skills knowledge and critical thinking, and application of learnt mathematical concepts.
4. Pashto Language:
Here students are taught or rather practice on the usage of correct grammar in Pashto language, new words and reading exercises. Students learn Pashto prose, poetry and different and write and speak in the language to improve their fluency when conversing in the language.
5. Tafseer:
Tafseer entails analyses of meanings of sayings of Quran With special reference to Ibn Umar recitation. Students get to understand how to interpret and apply religion, the Quran in the subject of ethical and moral issues in our daily lives.
6. Geology:
Geology classes let student know what earth science is all about through topics such as rocks and minerals, and physical changes like erosion among others. Students learn about the formation of the earth and earth resources and more so environmental conservation.
7. English Language:
Grammar contains the study of reading, writing, spoken and written communication skills in the English language. There are explicit instructions in grammar, consolidation of words and phrases to foster mastery of English and reading exercises.
8. Biology:
The content includes cell biology, human physiology, plant biology, and ecosystems. Students engage in activities such as experiments and observations in order to explain the different processes of life and relation between the living organism.
9. Dari Language:
From language classes in Dari they learn grammar, reading, and writing. They read Dari literature and poetry, write critiques of text, and work on their own writing as well, thus receiving practice on both Dari and understanding literature.
10. Civic Studies:
Civic Studies are intended to nurture students with knowledge about their responsibilities among the society. Areas taught include state structures and governance, individual and group rights and duties and the role in the broader society and community.
11. Chemistry:
Chemistry familiarizes student with basic areas of chemistry including atom, molecule, element and chemical reaction. Students use their experimented results in order to understand how chemistry impacts the surrounding environment.
12. Computer:
Computer studies deal with computer literacy, such skills as word processing, use of the internet, and more. Students find out how to apply technologies for learning, doing projects, and just communicating properly and safely.
13. Physics:
Physics an include domain like linear and angular motion, forces, energy and basic electricity. Students perform experiments and work through the fundamental principles of the world which include physics.
14. History:
Biology lessons cover major historical events in Afghanistan and important personalities in the world. Through history, students learn how societies have been transformed and what cultural and political transformations people came across throughout the centuries.
